The "school mascot" for Orient-Macksburg is the Bulldog. School colors are red and white.
Enrollment – Orient-Macksburg, Pre-K – 12, is housed in one building. There are 321 students. There is an elementary wing, a middle school level, and a high school level. All three grade levels share the following rooms: band/vocal, two gyms, weight room, lunch room, art, industrial tech, vocational tech, and two libraries.
Academics – Orient-Macksburg offers a wide range of courses, everything from traditional to college prep courses. We also offer our students post-secondary classes at Southwestern Community College (SWCC) in Creston, Iowa. Two new programs have been added to our curriculum, Auto Mechanics and Building Construction at SWCC.
Sports – Orient-Macksburg offers all major sports on site and/or share with Creston. If we don’t offer the sport at O-M, we have a sharing agreement with Creston Schools for football, tennis, and golf. Talks are continuing for other sports with Creston when the time comes.
Technology – Orient-Macksburg has a computer to student ratio of 1:7. Four computer labs are available for student use: Business Lab, Industrial Tech Lab, and two libraries. Also, we have 20 computers that work off of an air-port system with our servers.
